Coming this July from Anchor Bay Entertainment is the gore-fest Maniac. Directed by William Lustig (Maniac Cop, Vigilante), and starring Joe Spinell and Caroline Munro, Maniac's cult status owes much to the landmark special effects created by the great Tom Savini. Heres the rest of the PR, including the disc specs:
Frank Zito (Spinell) is a deeply disturbed man, haunted by the traumas of unspeakable child abuse. When these horrific memories begin to scream inside his mind, Frank prowls the seedy streets of New York City to stalk and slaughter innocent young women. He takes their scalps as souvenirs and displays them on the heads of the mannequins he keeps dotted around his dingy apartment. Eventually he begins a relationship with a beautiful photographer (Caroline Munro) and attempts to submerge his sick, murderous urges yet the vile compulsions remain.
The feature packed disc looks set to include some interesting material including:
Anamorphic widescreen transfer Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. Audio commentaries by director William Lustig, special make-up effects artist Tom Savini, Editor Lorenzo Marinelli and Joe Spinell's assistant Luke Walter Radio interview with Lustig and stars Spinell and Caroline Munro, 51 minute The Joe Spinell Story' documentary Trailers Stills galleries TV spots Radio spots Poster/stills gallery -Gallery of Outrage', Talent biographies Hidden bonus interview.
Unfortunately, or fortunately for those of you with a weak stomach, the BBFC have had their scissors out again, trimming 58 seconds from Maniacs running time. Maniac is released on the 15th July and carries a price tag of 14.99. |
