Another rental-only title is heading you way this August, with Buena Vista's announcement of The Royal Tenenbaums. Here's the PR:
Available to rent on DVD and video from 19th August, The Royal Tenenbaums is a unique, quirky comedy about New York�s most charmingly dysfunctional family. Starring the hilarious Ben Stiller (Zoolander, Meet the Parents) and the stunning Gwyneth Paltrow (Shallow Hal, Shakespeare In Love), 2002's most talked about comedy is the must rent movie of the year.
Wealthy New York Lawyer Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman) and his wife Etheline (Angelica Huston) brought up three genius children � Chas (Ben Stiller), Richie (Luke Wilson) and Margot (Gwyneth Paltrow) and then they separated. Chas started buying real estate in his early teens and seemed to have an almost preternatural understanding of international finance. Margot was a playwright and received a Braverman Grant of $50,000 in the ninth grade. Richie was a junior champion tennis player and won the US Nationals three years in a row.
Two decades later, virtually all memory of the brilliance of the young Tenenbaums has vanished, erased by years of betrayal, failure and disaster. The children generally consider this to be their father�s fault and have not spoken to him since their teens. When Royal�s fortune runs out, he finds himself homeless. Then when he learns that his estranged wife is being wooed by her accountant, Henry Sherman (Danny Glover), Royal decides to make a desperate bid to win his family back. Royal brings about an unexpected reunion, the hilarious consequences of which are far-reaching for three generations of Tenenbaums.
